18 November 2017, an event held in Sanya City Arena, China brought along glories to our nation after 17 years! A 20 year old Indian woman, MANUSHI CHILLAR, was crowned Miss World 2017, becoming the sixth Indian to won the award succeeding Priyanka Chopra (2000). Competing against 118 contestants from across the world, representing their nations, Manushi Chillar coveted the honored title and became the talk of the town.
While we are all talking about this beauty we must also not forget to know a few facts about her that proves that she’s got the power.
She hails from Jhajjar district, Haryana but did her schooling from St. Thomas school, New Delhi. At present this beauty is pursuing MBBS.
Manushi Chillar belongs to a doctor’s family wherein her father Dr. Mitra Basu Chillar is a scientist in DRDO and her mother is the head of department of Neurochemistry at Institute of Human behavior and allied sciences.
She wanted to be gynecologist and so is pursuing MBBS from Bhagat Phool Singh Government College, Sonipat.
For participating in Miss Femina 2017, she had to sacrifice one year of her education. And after winning the pageant she was mentored by Neha Dhupia, for which she expressed her gratitude.
Manushi Chillar is a trained classical Kuchipudi dancer trained under legendary names as Raja, Radha and Kaushalya Reddy.
Apart from being a dancer, she also has a knack for art. Be it writing poetry or painting, Manushi Chillar does it all in her free time.
She has also participated in a cultural exchange program in 2014 wherein she represented India in Japan.
Manushi Chillar is a fitness freak and very adventurous. She loves participating in outdoor activities such as scuba diving etc.
She has also won “beauty with a purpose” title for which she participated in Project Shakti. Her project spreads awareness of problems regarding menstrual cycle among all. For the purpose she has visited 20 villages and treated approximately 5000 women.
She is not just beauty but beauty with brains not just for pursuing MBBS but also being the All India CBSE topper in English (12th standard).
While many of us sit and dream of completing our bucket list, Manushi Chillar had accomplished what she wanted too. And today she is living her life to the fullest.
As her motto in life goes “when you cease to dream you cease to live”.
