Rich India: Indian Culture and its History

Culture may be defined as the social behavior and norms that a specific group of people follow in their society. It is also considered as a central concept in anthropology further on encompassing the range of phenomena that are transmitted through social learnings among humans. Some aspects of human behavior include various social practices in various expressive forms such as art, music, dance, ritual, and religion, and cooking, shelter, and clothing are said to be cultural universals, found in all human societies. India is considered to be the cultural hub of the world.

The Indian culture is rich in variation throughout the country. It attracts tons of foreign people due to its prosperous and welcoming cultures throughout the country. Majority of Indian culture is partitioned among Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs making up to 80-82% of the population among the country, apart from then there are tons of minor populated cultures spread along different corners of the country.

Indian Cultural History

India has its deep roots of culture dating way back in the history. The country has witnessed almost all cultures around the globe from the Mughal's to the Britishers. The country was withdrawn from its rich culture when the invaders, foreign rulers and emperors forced the country similar to the one of their own but India wasn't the one to be suppressed by it. The country has always welcomed all the cultures from around the globe and it still does, anyone from anywhere in the world following any culture or none is always welcome in this great country as it believes that every person plays an important role towards its heritage. The love of the country for all of the religions living within it is something which is definitely one of the reasons for the patriotism and love people have for the country.

India has a rich cultural history as compared to any other country in the world. the Mahabharata and Ramayana are the oldest and well preserved and well-known epics of our country. Various countries like Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia have opted them as epics of Southeast Asia.The Ramayana consists of 24,000 verses in seven books and tells the story of Rama, whose wife Sita is abducted by the demon king of Lanka, Ravana. This epic played a pivotal role in establishing the role of dhárma as a principal ideal guiding force for Hindu way of life.

The Rigvedic Sanskrit is one of the oldest attestations of any Indo-Aryan languages, and one of the earliest attested members of the Indo-European languages. It is stated that a ton of modern day languages has been derived from the famous Indian historical language Sanskrit. Philology was also a result of the discovery of Sanskrit by the early European explorers of India. A ton of Scholars from the 18th century had studied Sanskrit to find a similarity both in grammar and vocabulary, to the classical languages of Europe. Intensive scientific studies that followed have established that Sanskrit and many Indian derivative languages belong to the family which includes English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Celtic, Greek, Baltic, Armenian, Persian, Tocharian and other Indo-European languages.

Due to the variation of culture which is spread across different geographic locations throughout the country, we get to see a ton of different practices including arts, food, religious practices etc. The richness of these cultures plays a major role in attracting tons of people throughout the world. At times a "Culture" can also be referred to as a set of customs, traditions, and values of a society or community. Over the period of years, Indian culture has also inspired top of writers to pen their perceptions of the country's culture.
