For what is inevitable, has to happen. From Einstein to Mr, Bean every great man has had to go through a hangover. It is the greater storm that comes the morning after your 'stormy' night. Hangover is like the unexpected sunny day. It is like the bite of clove in the last bite of your favorite which spoils the taste. It is not wanted but it comes with the package so you have to face it. Here are some of the best hangover cures for those who have had a teeny-weeny largy–wargy bit more alcohol that they should have.
Drink water as much as you can and drain out the alcohol as the body uses a lot of water to process out alcohol. You are anyways going to be asking for water when you wake up like you haven't had it in years. Other drinks can also help, like coconut water, Gatorade or other sports drinks and bouillon soup. One of the best hangover cures, trust us on this!
2. Pizza is man's best friend.
Talking about hangover cures, have greasy food like pizza, bacon or eggs before you drink. Fat slows the emptying of the stomach and slows down the stomach moment. (Finally something good cause for such lifestyle choices) It will help reduce the absorption of alcohol into your bloodstream. Go ahead, stuff your body.
3. Have a light breakfast.
Carbs are good for you at this point. Do not eat a very heavy breakfast, eat bread or anything easy to digest that will raise your blood sugar level. Basically, an empty stomach will mean that your liver is only processing the alcohol in your body and will not be regulating your blood sugar level. This will leave you drained of energy. Do not binge on heavy foods. In simple terms, have fatty foods before you drink and keep it light after when you wake up.
4. Sleep it off.
While sleeping is not a hangover cure as such, but sleep deprivation will keep you agitated and keep your head pounding. Sleep the next day if you have the leisure, your body will heal on its own and you will wake up with a lighter head.
5. Coffee- Avoid it!
This is a big ' don't ' in the hangover cures list. If you are a regular coffee drinker, you might not want to miss your caffeine dose, the morning you wake up. You will have caffeine withdrawal symptoms along with your hangover and that will worsen it.Try very little coffee and wait for 30-60 minutes and see how you feel.
BUT, if you are not a regular coffee drinker, avoid coffee at all costs. Caffeine is not a hangover cure for you. It narrows your blood vessels and increases the blood pressure and you don't want to deal with that on top of a hangover. You will vomit my friend, You Will! (And that is a personal experience.)
6. "Beer before liquor…" Blah Blah
Do not be tipping bottles and expect you will be fine. You will have a hangover for sure if you drink alcohol in large amounts. In whichever order you drink it, whether beer before whiskey or whiskey before beer, its all ethanol so its all the same.
7. Mind your pace.
If you are going to drink a great deal, keep it slow at least in beginning (because you will not remember this point after you feel the hit). If you drink faster, the alcohol will get absorbed into your bloodstream faster and will get to your brain faster. This will lead to a severe hangover.
To summarise, sleep a lot, hangover takes its time to go. Don't be chugging on alcohol like it is the last time you are drinking. It's okay to drink less too!
