Around 500 Chinese children between 9-11 years had been asked how they had fish in the previous month, with options ranging from “never” to “once per week.” The verbal and nonverbal skills of children were compared from their IQ tests.
It has been found in the study that children who ate fish once a week scored 4.8 points higher on the IQ tests than those who never ate fish. Those who ate fish only sometimes scored 3.3 points higher on IQ tests.

Parents also answered questions about sleep quality. The children who ate more fish had no trouble going to sleep, indicating better overall sleep quality.
